Recently Jeff Sandquist, an Evangelist with Microsoft, recently posted a blog entry for an exciting new opportunity to head the Channel 10 and Evangelist Enthusiasts Team. I had numerous colleagues and friends call me up about this and it is indeed a very excellent opportunity so I thought I would take it "seriously". So here you go Jeff. I've sent over my resume, my cover letter and this "very professionally" done video to show what happens when I play around with Windows Movie Maker a bit. I'm now sitting beside the phone. I'm sure Jeff will give me a call. Really. I'm sure. Any minu
Here's an interview I had today with a VERY good friend of mine, Greg Mansfield, the Continuing Education Coordinator for the Insurance Brokers Association of BC. Greg has had some amazing achievement over the past few years, particularly in the area of combining education and technology. He is one of the foremost authorities in the province for Online Education. In this video clip, we chat about what he does at the Association and some of the technology he uses, particularly Moodle, an Open Source Course Management System (CMS). Enjoy. Even though I've been so busy getting hitched and have a ton of work still to do for clients lately, I took a moment yesterday for something a little fun. For the wedding I purchased a Casio Exilim EX-Z70 digital camera. I love this unit for overall size, display diameter (2.5") and great movie capabilities. I noticed in Urban Vancouver yesterday morning a new website called Rant!Vancouver was created and looking for video submissions to promote the sight. I thought the idea was kinda cool so while running errands during the day I captured a little "Rant rage" while crossing the Lions Gate
Stephen Colbert can't stay away from controversy. That's why we love him so much. In April he appeared at the White House ready to, well um, praise the achievements of George W. Stephen understands the importance of the Internet, especially after a fan sight called Thank You Stephen Colbert was created in his honour. Now he's after Wikipedia. As I've frequently quoted in this blog, Wikipedia is the de facto encyclopedia of the Internet. A company doesn't own it and write it. Regular people do. It's in the form of a wiki - essentially a web page which anyone can go in and change. The val
It's been almost a month since this story broke all over the blogosphere and I'm only seeing the relevance of it lately. A term frequently used these days to describe over simplifying something (especially technology) or speaking of something you have no idea about is now "like a tube" or "a bunch of tubes" (such as in, "Our new financial reporting system is like, well, a bunch of tubes..." - laughter then follows). How and when did this happen? To recap, here is how Wikipedia describes this meme: Series of tubes is a term coined by United States Senator Ted Stevens, a Republican from Alaska
One piece of business still not completed from my recent attendance at Gnomedex was to post my podcast interview with Latthanapon "Ponzi" Indharasophang. This originally was posted by Travis Petershagan on the Seattle Podcasting Network. Thanks Travis for lending me your cool equipment for the original interview and doing the upload! Ponzi and I had a great conversation prior to the interview. We talked about many topics though I kept bringing the focus back to being "a geek's chick". Ponzi impressed me by going far beyond someone who's doing this "for her man" (fiancée Chris Pirillo). Sh
How cool is this?... Derek K. Miller, the best of the best when it comes to creating music content for Podcasts, has come up with a theme song for Gnomedex 6.0. I'm just in the process of getting ready to head down to Seattle for this great event and thought I would share as a mini-podcast from Pacific IT. (There's even a little over-dub of me saying "all our good friends at Gnomedex 6.0" - thanks Derek!) I really don't know what to expect but from the feedback I've heard from others attending last year and the anticipation of this year's, I think I'll be passing on some very interesting pr
